A carols by candlelight singalong in the park

12 Dec, 2008 03:00 AM
FOLLOWING on from the recent concert to launch Light Up Leeton, Mountford Park will this weekend host Carols in Park.

The traditional “by candlelight” event presented by the Ministers Fraternal and this year hosted by St Peter’s Anglican Church will feature a range of Christmas-themed performances.

Fr Robert Murphy said there would be about 15 items and six brackets of community carols.

“Bring a rug or a chair to sit on,” he said.

“There will be a barbecue run by the Salvation Army and drinks available.

“Also, there will be glowsticks and a program for a small charge.”

Items will be presented by a number of schools and most of the churches, including traditional and contemporary carols and Christmas songs.

There will be performances by a dance group, the Murrumbidgee Chorale, ecumenical choir, Presbyterian youth band and St Peter’s Choir, and the Leeton Town Band will lead the community carols for everyone to join in.

“Come along and celebrate the real meaning of Christmas,” Fr Robert said.

Carols in the Park will commence at 6pm on Sunday in Mountford Park and finish about 8pm.
