POLICE are continuing their investigations into numerous break and enters in the Leeton area.
Recently a number of residents have reported their homes have been broken in to as well as numerous business premises and schools.
On October 14 Yanco Public School was broken into with two computer monitors destroyed as well as fibre optic cables and the sliding glass panels in the foyer counter.
The school's digital camera and video camera were also stolen.
Residents in Yanco have also reported homes in Main Avenue had been broken into and the Yanco shop door kicked in.
Leeton residents have also reported their homes and cars have been broken into.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Gordon Dunlop said there had been an increase in break and enters in the area.
"Police are actively investigating each and every call we receive relating to these matters," he said.
"We are urging the community to take their home security very serious."
Inspector Dunlop urged residents to have their windows and doors locked even when they were home and not to leave valuables such as handbags, wallets and car keys out in the open.
"These offenders are brazen enough to enter your home even if you are there," Inspector Dunlop said.
"It is important to be extra vigilant and if a resident hears a disturbance outside we would urge them to call us, turn their outside light on and supply a description of the person or a car for example to the police.
"These offenders are not targeting a specific area or location, so all residents should be on alert."
