Car accidents keep police on their toes

02 Mar, 2010 03:00 AM
POLICE were kept busy on Saturday morning attending two motor vehicle accidents.

The first occurred at 6am on Yate Road about 1.5km outside of Leeton.

Police allege the vehicle was travelling at an undetermined speed when it almost entered a ditch on the left-hand side of the road, causing the driver to take evasive action and veer right.

The vehicle then collided with a fence and ran through some scrub before flipping and landing on its roof.

The driver and passenger were taken to Leeton District Hospital, with the driver suffering a broken arm.

Police are continuing their inquiries into the exact cause of the crash.

The second incident occurred at 8.30am on Saturday when the driver of a Hyundai Excel hatchback was travelling south on Muntenpen Street towards the intersection of Palm Avenue.

The vehicle continued to travel through the intersection at a slow pace when a Holden Commodore travelling west collided with the passenger side of the Hyundai.

The driver of the Hyundai was issued with an infringement notice for not giving way.
