LEETON police officers were kept busy on Monday evening after a stolen vehicle was recovered and two other men arrested in separate matters.
Police attended a call at about 5.10pm on Monday night for a driving complaint in the Yanco area and found a silver Hyundai Excel parked outside a home in Cudgel Street and discovered the vehicle was one that had been stolen from an owner in Queensland.
Police allege a 15-year-old boy had driven the vehicle from Queensland to visit friends in Leeton.
Police attended an address in Yanco to make initial inquiries about the stolen vehicle and it was revealed the car had been stolen from Broadbeach Waters on the Gold Coast.
Stolen goods were also allegedly found inside the vehicle.
The 15-year-old boy was arrested and taken into custody and was refused bail at the Griffith Children's Court on Tuesday.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Murray Gillett was pleased the matter had been dealt with quickly.
"The 15-year-old boy is a resident from Queensland and is currently being held at the Griffith police station," he said.
"At the same address in Yanco, police also came across a 38-year-old man wanted by warrant and he too was arrested and transferred to Griffith.
"Police investigations into both matters are continuing."
In a separate incident this week, a 20-year-old Leeton man was also arrested have he crashed his vehicle into a tree near Narrandera.
The crash occurred at about 4.30am near the Berry Jerry rest area on the Sturt Highway.
Following the crash, the man hitchhiked his way back to Leeton, but was later arrested after further inquiries led police to a house where they charged the 20-year-old with driving while disqualified and theft of a motor vehicle.
