STORYTIME at the library this week was all about Aboriginal heritage in conjunction with the National Aboriginal and Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week.
This year NAIDOC Week runs from July 5 to 12, with the library celebrating with a specially-themed storytime, which runs each month.
The theme was "Honouring our Elders, Nurturing our Youth" with various activities taking place on the day.
The format of storytime was normal as usual, but with a special twist to honour NAIDOC Week.
Storytime began with the song "If you're happy and you know it" with the children and their parents and carers all participating.
Following the singing of the song, the story The Rainbow Serpent was read by special guest from the Aboriginal community Janaha Higgins.
Acting chief executive officer of the Leeton and District Local Aboriginal Council Karen Davy was also present for the festivities.
Following the story read by Ms Higgins another song was sang and puppets were used to act out the story Tiddalick the frog who caused a flood.
The craft activity for this month's storytime involved each of the children making a decorated segment of the Rainbow Serpent, which will now be joined together and attached to the high wall in the atrium of the library as a celebration and reminder to the community of NAIDOC Week.
Storytime is held each month at the library with a different theme and is free to all children and their parents or carers.
