GIVING back to the community is something the Golden Apple Super Store enjoys doing.
Last Wednesday, Golden Apple shop assistant Ron Harrison and director Angelo Fiumara held a cheque presentation at the store where they donated just over $1000 to Salvation Army Leeton captain Phillip McCall, St Vincent de Paul Leeton president Marianne Hoskinson and Leeton VRA rescue squad captain Glen Hehir.
The donations were part of the IGA Community Chest program.
By shopping in an IGA store and buying IGA branded products or selected lines marked with the Community Chest logo, a guaranteed percentage from each of these products sold is set aside.
The store is then graded on a point system and a certain percentage is given back to be donated to charity.
Mr Harrison said the charities were worthy of the donations.
"Each year we try to choose charities that do great work for our community," he said.
"Each of the charities chosen this year do a lot of great things for our town so this is our way of helping them out.
"We've donated to a couple of them before, but we like to spread it around as well."
Last year CanAssist and the Leeton Breast Cancer Support Group received donations from the store.
The money is usually distributed to the chosen organisation in February each year.
Mr Hehir thanked Golden Apple for the donation.
"We are really appreciative of this money," he said.
"Often this kind of thing is kept quiet, but it is good for the store to be recognised for their generosity."
