Knitters wrapped in work

28 Jun, 2011 08:30 AM
THE Leeton Library Knitters gathered last Thursday for a cuppa and to show off their rugs from this year's work.

Each year the group knits squares for the charity Wrap with Love.

The 25cm squares are knitted together to make rugs of 28 squares each and then sent to Wagga. Any leftover squares are made into more blankets and then all of them are sent off to Sydney.

The group of more than 30 women were hoping to surpass their 2010 total of 37 finished blankets and 200 individual squares.

The ladies have knitted 1914 individual squares this year and in four years have knitted 5127 squares in total.

So far this year there are already 66 finished rugs and there are also about 219 squares that haven't yet been joined together.

Knitters are of all skill and age level but all are there to help the cause.

"Today is just to say thank you for all the wool that has been donated and for everyone to enjoy the display," knitter Margret Noad said.
