POLICE are investigating a possible connection between two incidents that occurred early last Sunday morning, one of which was the arrest of a 36-year-old man for firing a projectile into the Leeton police station.

On the same evening a 32-year-old female was arrested for assaulting police and resist arrest and has been processed for these offences.

A 36-year-old man was also charged with affray.

Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Murray Gillett said it was possible there was a connection between the two incidents.

"Police inquires into both matters are still continuing," he said.

"There is zero tolerance towards both of these kind of incidents."

Three Leeton police officers were lucky to escape injury when a 36-year-old man fired a projectile into the station through a rear window and became lodged in a door.

Detectives from Griffith Local Area Command were called to the scene and upon arrival obtained a search warrant and interviewed a number of people.

Upon obtaining the search warrant, police searched the home of a 36-year-old man from Leeton, which subsequently led to his arrest.

The man was refused bail in Wagga Local Court on Monday.

In an unrelated incident, a 75-year-old man is recovering in hospital after he was hit by a car in Narrandera on Wednesday.

The man and his wife were walking along Larmer Street shortly before 7am when he was struck by a vehicle.

Police have interviewed the driver, but will speak to the man before deciding whether or not to take action.
