HOTEL Leeton won its way into the 2009-10 B grade grand final following its big 46-run win over Narrandera in the major semi-final on Saturday at Murrumbidgee College.
Batting first, Hotel Leeton proved unbeatable with the bat, lasting its 35 overs to post a strong total of 4-174.
The in-form Martin Maley (66) excelled with a half-century and put on 136 runs for the first wicket with fellow opener Damien Bush (70), who struck four boundaries.
Bush fell first, caught by Jason Williams off the bowling of Ian Donaldson. Maley put on 20 runs with Wayne Thomas (8) until Thomas was caught out off Greg Collins (2-36).
Maley finally succumbed with the score at 167, run out by Jason Rilen, and on the last ball of the innings, John Speer was caught out for Collins' second.
After not having much luck with the ball, Narrandera turned to the bat and was in trouble early on. Williams (8) was caught by Scott McDonald off Joey Ciccia, who then removed first drop Jarod Dolan two balls later to finish with 2-16.
Carpheads captain Matt McLellan fell in the next over to Allan Jackson in a mini-collapse that brought Narrandera to 4-23 when Ian Donaldson (1) was dimissed in the over after that.
Fortunately, Jason Rilen (54) plundered a half-century off 68 balls and partnered with Greg Collins (23) to take the Carpheads to 80 when Collins was removed.
Rilen was caught out off Sam Alampi four overs later and the Carpheads collapsed again, with Alampi taking 4-19.
Narrandera was eventually bowled out for just 128 runs and will now take on the Phantoms next weekend.
