LEETON will have a chance of back-to-back success at the Pony Inter Dominion thanks to the efforts of mini trotters Todd Prest and Alanah Pitt.
Todd, 15, was successful with Energizer at last year's Inter Dominion, but will be racing in a smaller class this time around. He will drive Billy Bye in the nine hands and under class.
It will be 13-year-old Alanah's first time competing in the pinnacle of mini trotting and she will be racing twice, first with Gold Star in the 9.1 to 10.2 hands category and then with Lightning Jim in the 10.3 to 13 hands.
The talented duo will be heading to Menangle Park Paceway to compete in Sunday's races against ponies from across Australia and New Zealand.
Todd has an idea of what to expect, but said the smaller class at the top level is a bit of an unknown for him.
"I hope he goes all right," he said. "Once he get's going he's all right.
"I don't really know his chances with the little ones. He might finish top four.
"When he gets a horse outside of him he get's going. This is just one race so he needs to go from the start."
Todd has been driving Billy Bye for the past two seasons and is currently rated in the top five ponies in his division. Billy Bye is owned by Jett Clarke and is currently being cared for by Jett's grandfather, Graham Bourke in Leeton.
Gold Star is an old faithful mare for Alanah, while Lightning Jim is a relative newcomer to mini trotting.
"It's going to be fun, but a bit scary," Alanah said.
"(Gold Star) should go all right but (Lightning Jim) is a bit shy sometimes.
"He's only just started racing and (Gold Star) is old as the hills."
Alanah still has a few years to go in mini trotting, while it is Todd's last season. However, he is already starting to move up to harness racing and is keen to stay involved with the sport.
