 Scout Hall looking great

Scout Hall looking great

26 Feb, 2010 03:00 AM
OVER the past 12 months Leeton Scouts have been able to partially refurbish their Scout Hall at the corner of Gidgee Street and Maiden Avenue.

While a couple of major jobs remain outstanding, such as a badly needed new roof (anyone looking for a worthy project?) and an internal re-paint, we feel the current external finish to be much more appealing aesthetically than the faded, drab olive green of last century.

We consulted our neighbours before finalising the colour scheme – we value their input, friendship and forbearance.

In completing the job we would very much like to acknowledge the following people:

- Grant and Louise Johnstone, the owners of Leeton Mitre 10. It was after all their idea. They approached us in 2008 with the idea of supporting our group in the re-painting of the hall. The approach came out of the blue. While it was something we had been looking at, without this out-of-the-blue offer of assistance we would not have embarked on the project so soon – Bravo.

- Dulux paints very generously provided the paints – gratis.

- Wade Club Foundation and Rotary Club of Leeton who have assisted us to replace our hot water service.

- Chris Jackson from Premier Sheds for the provision and installation of a new front gutter to the roof, again gratis. It has been wet and waits again (for rain).

- Gerard Rourke from Leeton Home Improvement for the provision of replacement timbers and wall insulation.

- Lastly those Cubs, Scouts, parents and leaders who all did the work.
