Writing under the pen name M R Mortimer, the self-published author has four novels and a collection of short stories to his name and is busily working away on his next novel plus sequels to two of his published novels.
Through his works Mr Mortimer delves into the world of science fiction.
"I write science fiction in a consistent universe, meaning that I have a particular alternate history that I have created and each book is somewhere within the universe,'' Mr Mortimer said.
Mr Mortimer said science and science fiction had fascinated him and the world he writes in started to be developed when he was a teenager before disaster stopped him from writing.
"I've been writing all my life basically but I stopped for a number of years after a flood wiped out a lot of my manuscripts in the late 90s,'' Mr Mortimer said.
"I had notes towards roughly 50 books, including several completed manuscripts and all of them were destroyed.
"I started again only a couple of years ago when a friend, that I hadn't seen for many years, knocked on my door and said 'hey, I found this old manuscript of yours, would you like it back?' so I started again and haven't stopped since."
Mr Mortimer's books are available in Leeton, as well through retailers in Sydney and Brisbane, and online as paperbacks or e-books.
