Ivanka Jakopec has lived in town since 2010 after moving from Melbourne.
Mrs Jakopec is of Serbian heritage and migrated to Australia with her family in 2002 following unrest in the country as a result of civil war.
In 2002, Mrs Jakopec suffered a fall and it was during her recovery that she recalled her childhood passion for art and started to paint.
She said motivation for her paintings came from numerous places.
"Now that I've started again every piece of work I do is a part of me," Mrs Jakopec said.
"I paint from the heart ... I just love painting.
"Some of my paintings feature my daughter and my grandson because family is very important to me."
Mrs Jakopec has 18 oil paintings on show at the art space and has invited not just community members to head along and take a look, but
fellow artists in the shire, so she can connect with them.
She has also recently entered two pieces into the Penny Paniz Arts Competition.
Her works are completed from memory, photographs she has taken or the imagination.
Mrs Jakopec's featured work at the Roxy includes paintings from places she has visited in Slovenia and Australia, as well as of celebrities such as Elvis Presley, Michael Jackson and Elizabeth Taylor.
"I love to paint people and buildings," she said.
"That's what I like the most."
Mrs Jakopec's exhibition will be open until April 4 from 10am to 1pm weekdays, 10am to 2pm Saturdays and 11am to 2pm on Sundays.
