The Roxy Theatre's supper room has been transformed into a small gallery, with its official opening held on March 9.
Regional arts development officer Dr Greg Pritchard was the first to showcase his work with his exhibition titled WORDPLAYSWORDPLAY.
The art space is an initiative of Leeton Shire Council and the Western Riverina Arts Board, with about 50 residents attending the evening.
Representatives from Narrandera and Griffith, who also make up the arts board, were unable to make it as a result of flooding throughout the area.
Dr Pritchard said impressions of the space were positive.
"The pieces had a quirky sense of humour about them and people seemed to really like them," he said.
"I've spoken to a couple of people that were there on the night that will definitely do a show there this year.
"There are also three or four others that I know of that are interested in it.
"It's probably going to be full for the rest of the year."
Dr Pritchard's exhibition consisted of 13 pieces and said the space was ideal for solo shows.
The supper room has undergone a slight renovation, including re-painting and the installation of track lighting.
"Everyone was really impressed with the space," Dr Pritchard said.
"It's really opened the room up."
Dr Pritchard will now decide on the gallery's opening hours, but for the moment residents can drop by the theatre during business hours while he is there.
Those interested in using the space can contact Dr Pritchard on 6953 2074.
