Kelvin Wright, 23, appeared in Leeton Local Court last Friday for sentencing before magistrate Shane McAnulty.
Mr Wright pled guilty to the offence of reckless wounding after he approached a 19-year-old man at a Pine Avenue hotel on January 25 and punched him while holding a glass.
He then threw the glass at the younger man, which hit him in the side of the head.
The injured man was taken to Leeton District Hospital where he received treatment for cuts to his ear and head.
Mr Wright was also treated for a cut to his hand.
He will now serve the 18-month ICO, which is an order of imprisonment served by way of intensive correction in the community.
An ICO is served in the community under the strict supervision of Corrective Services NSW, rather than in full-time custody in a correctional centre.

THE Leeton woman charged with 17 offences after allegedly stealing a credit card and spending thousands of dollars at Leeton businesses fronted court last Friday.
Helen Ngatikaura appeared in Leeton Local Court before magistrate Shane McAnulty, with the matter adjourned to Griffith Local Court on May 29 for hearing.
Police allege Ms Ngatikaura was one of two women involved in the scam that involved stealing another woman's wallet and going on a shopping spree.
It is believed the wallet was stolen from the woman's place of work at 3.20pm on December 17.
In the short period between the theft and it being discovered, the woman spent at least $11,000 at one Leeton business before conducting transactions at various other stores, including one where she used the victim's business credit card.
Ms Ngatikaura was apprehended by police on December 20 and has pleaded not guilty to each of the charges.
