Two years after the 2011 earthquake destroyed Christchurch's neo-Gothic cathedral, the building has been resurrected. It has also undergone something of a public transfiguration. The symbolic heart of the city of churches has become an international icon for sustainability. The new A-frame cathedral is made of humble cardboard. Meanwhile its architect, Shigeru Ban, is the newly anointed recipient of architecture's highest prize, the Pritzker.
