Thirteen people and some family pets took part in the rally, which started in Jarrah Mall before taking to the streets and eventually to the Leeton Shire Council chambers in Chelmsford Place.
On arrival rally organiser Mark Norvall and Sian Hindmarsh presented council general manager John Batchelor and mayor Paul Maytom with a petition that was signed by 460 residents calling for rangers to treat animals in a humane manner.
They also handed over a letter outlining the concerns of the community.
Mr Norvall and Ms Hindmarsh were invited to meet with Mr Batchelor and councillor Maytom to discuss their concerns, with the meeting lasting for more than an hour.
Mr Norvall posted on the "Leeton demands Rangers treat pets humanely" Facebook page last night labelling the meeting a success.
"The Council laid out a large number of changes that are in the pipeline for the animal control in Leeton, which actually cover a large number of the points we raised in our letter," he wrote.
"Overall I believe it was a very fruitful afternoon and that in the coming weeks we will see real change coming out of council."
