LEETON Pony Club held its annual Cliff Brown Cup competition over two days last weekend.
While the weather was miserable on Saturday morning, the event was well attended with 26 riders competing in riding classes, a dressage event and novelties.
The main event for the day was the Trim Shield. This equitation jumping event attracted riders from Zone 21, including from Leeton, Griffith, Coleambally and Rankins Springs clubs.
They rode against each other to try and win the coveted Trim Shield, which is awarded to the best combination of horse and rider over the event.
The winner was Rebecca Groat from Griffith Pony Club, riding Will.
Sunday morning's events included combined training, which is one round of show jumping and one dressage test, with scores combined.
In the afternoon the Cliff Brown Cup was held.
This is a popular event and the riders were all keen to be a part of it.
Drawn pairs competed in a rescue relay show jumping round, where one team member takes over - or rescues their partner - if the other has a refusal.
It is timed on speed and accuracy and can be a thrilling event to watch.
Winners of the junior rescue relay Cliff Brown Cup were Georgia West of Griffith and Brad Daunt from Rankins Springs.
The winners of the senior rescue relay Cliff Brown Cup were Lydia Hanna (Griffith) and Grace Daunt (Rankins Springs).
