Emergency services were called about 4.20pm after a motorist noticed the smoke and phoned the owner of the home.
Fire and Rescue arrived on the scene and found the rear of the premises well alight and extinguished the blaze.
Police have said the electricity was "allegedly turned off" at the time, but believe the fire may have started in the roof of the home.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Kim Traynor said there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the fire.
