Students from Yanco, Wamoon, Whitton and Murrami public schools came together to try experiments while learning about science in a fun way.
Yanco Public School teacher Rachael McClymont said the Small Schools group came together once a term.
This time, to coincide with National Science Week, the day had a science-based theme.
Students were divided into groups, participating in various hands-on activities in different rooms.
The activities were "crazy custard" - where students explored custard and understood that it was neither a solid or a liquid; "dancing food" - looking at carbon dioxide; "tasty treats" - where they saw whether the appearance of food impacted how it; "cream to butter"- where the children whipped cream so fast it turned into butter; and "what melts faster" - where children determined whether dark, milk or white chocolate melted faster.
Mrs McClymont said the fun-filled day provided children with excellent learning and social opportunities.
"It's a completely different learning opportunity," Mrs McClymont said.
Whitton Public School year 4 student Emma Demamiel enjoyed all activities at the science day, but there one activity stood out.
"Making butter because we got to stir it to death," Emma said.
"We are going to put it on our sausage sizzle bread."
As the children laughed, played and learned new and exciting things, it was clear that learning was not the only benefit of the day.
"I get to see my best friends," Emma saied, showing that the students not only share learning, but friendship as well.
