Vintage enthusiasts will have to pack away their stoles, 1920s inspired headbands and history books, with a lack of funding and community support forcing the event to be shelved.
Leeton Shire Council's economic development, tourism and events manager Peter Kennedy acknowledged that the event had drawn community support on the day, but said it failed to recruit enough committee members.
"It only ran twice and it was heavily subsidised by Rotary conference visitors," Mr Kennedy said.
"There are so many events, and this was obviously one committee too many."
Council events co-ordinator Alison Egan said kickstart event funding from the NSW government had dried up this year, meaning the council was forced to investigate alternative financial options.
"In the past its had external funding (now) the festival has no financial support," Mrs Egan said.
"There are a lack of people and a lack of money."
While the festival was popular in 2011 and 2013, multiple call-outs for sponsors and committee members had failed to garner interest.
"Events are two-fold, they do a wonderful thing for the community, but they rely on community support," Mrs Egan said.
"The events are only as good as people are going to make them."
Mr Kennedy said council was always looking for ways to attract people to Leeton, by showing them a unique aspect of the shire.
"It (the art deco festival) attracted day visitors," Mr Kennedy said.
"Council are constantly on the look out for events. It's not about duplicating other events, but finding something that is anchored to Leeton."
Enthusiasts should not be disheartened, with a festival revival planned for the future.
Hoping the three year break would give people "a spring back in their step", Mrs Egan said council would put a new call-out for committee members early next year.
Like vintage fashion, maybe Leeton residents will be ready to make something old new again.
