The wooden grandstand, with kitchen and other amenities underneath it, was being renovated and repaired.
Mr Punch said the builder employed to do the work had been concerned about structural damage.
A pest inspector was called to the scene, determining that white ants had heavily infected the area. A structural engineer has since been employed to find out the extent of the structural damage and whether the stand is repairable.
"We have to get it checked and wait for the results," Mr Punch said.
Ultimately, the trust would like to see the stand retained and updated, but the outcome depends on the cost.
"We have to ask, is it feasible? If not we'll have to go to plan B," Mr Punch said.
Mr Punch said all funding options would be explored and investigated. The grandstand was closed throughout the football season.
