The closure has come about due to declining in-person patronage at the office.
The last trading day for the Leeton office will be Friday, September 26.
Previously known as Resources Credit Union, MYCU has been in the Leeton community for many years, but the number of members visiting the Leeton branch in person has fallen as they move to card and online transactions.
With the credit union making changes to its branch network in line with the way members want to do their banking, this reduced demand for branch service means the decision was made to close the Leeton office.
"While it is disappointing that we will no longer be a part of the Leeton retail community, we need to respond to member banking preferences for simpler, more efficient and convenient ways to bank with us," MYCU chief executive officer Therese Turner said.
"To continue to meet this need, we will be introducing new services such as Paywave and a Smart App over the coming months."
The closure will affect one employee and all members affected by the change have been advised in writing.
One credit union member, who said he would be closing his account and taking his business elsewhere, said Resources Credit Union opened in 1961.
Resources Credit Union was initially formed by the Water Conservation and Irrigation Commission in 1961 for its workers, before services were made available to the wider community.
MYCU will provide banking services in Leeton through the Australia Post office. Members will be able to continue depositing cash and cheques, withdraw cash and pay bills.
Ms Turner said that arrangement would mean members still had access to face-to-face services in town.
"MYCU remains committed to the Riverina area and we will be retaining our main branch at Griffith for members wanting to meet with staff for more complex banking enquiries," she said.
"Griffith branch manager Jeanette Corbett has been looking after members in Griffith for over 25 years, so she understands local needs and how to best serve members living in the Riverina."
