Leeton Eisteddfod Society president Judith Nolan applauded the participants in this year's eisteddfod, commenting on the strong participation from St Joseph's Primary School and Leeton Public School students.
"They had nearly every student participating in a category," Mrs Nolan said.
"It was very good, adjudicators commented on the high standard. "I think some thought we were going to be a mob of country hicks."
With a huge variety of categories, encompassing everything from line dancing to debating, the eisteddfod attracted participants of all ages and abilities.
Mrs Nolan said being able to get up on stage and perform to a crowd encouraged many people to join in.
"I think there are a number of reasons, parents like to see there kids on stage, maybe they even competed when they were young," Mrs Nolan said.
Recalling a young kindergarten boy with eyes "as big as saucers", Mrs Nolan said he was amazed at the size of the Roxy theatre.
"(After performing) he said it was great, that's a great reaction, them just being there and being a part of it," she said.
Mrs Nolan commended the community for its ongoing support of the eisteddfod, saying many cafes and businesses had been helpful and thankful for the extra customers the event brought to the town.
At the end of the day, Mrs Nolan said, the aim of the eisteddfod was to encourage people to participate and engage in the community.
