THE Bidgee Hurricanes league tag team finished season 2014 with a win and a new record, for the first time holding an opponent to zero.
The Katrinas went in confident against Darlington Point-Coleambally and came away with a 14-0 win.
Leeton also managed to hold its opponent to zero, downing Yenda 10-0 at Wade Park.
Katrinas coach Matt O'Connell agreed the win was a good way to end the season.
"A few games we went in and lost to the toss of a coin," O'Connell said.
"Against the top-three sides they went in without confidence.
"Against the Point, because we had beaten them previously, they went in confident and stuck with the plays.
"It was the first time we've ever led a game and the first time ever we've got a nil scoreline."
O'Connell was proud of what his team had achieved this season.
"Two years without a win and two wins for the season, and they were competitive," he said.
"We were beaten by six or less on three or four occasions throughout the year.
"It's a pretty even comp; there's the top three and the rest, but they're not that far away."
The Greens were challenged in their game against the Blueheelers, but brought much of that on themselves.
"In the first half we just went away a bit from the game plan," coach David Warburton said.
"We ran sideways.
"Credit to Yenda, they are a very good side. They have fast girls.
"They made half breaks, but our defence held up.
Everything we did they shut down, we were lucky in a way. It was a great game to head into finals."
Second-placed Leeton travels to Lake Cargelligo on Sunday to take on Hay (third).
"We don't want to use the second chance," Warburton said.
"Last time we played Hay we played poorly and they beat us. If we can all just play better, we'll be okay.
"It hinges on the Pearson girls.
"We need to work hard around the ruck area and shut them down."
Leeton will have 12 players available, meaning one sub, which suits Warburton fine.
"That's a pretty good number," he said.
"In the final you want a couple of subs, but the longer you're on the park, the more you can read the play."
