Leeton Shire Council project and traffic officer Sandra Robinson said initial drainage works will begin in preparation for the installation of footpaths, kerbs and gutters.
"Works are commencing in Grevillia Street this week with drainage infrastructure," Mrs Robinson said.
"Over the next eight weeks kerb and gutter and shared footpaths will then be installed, as well as residential driveways.
"The path will run from the existing facility on Palm Avenue up to the intersection of Grevillia and Petersham, and a crossing point will be installed ready for when the Petersham Road area footpath is installed in the new year."
The completion date of the works has been co-ordinated to coincide with the pool season opening to ensure maximum pedestrian access.
Council has warned pedestrians and drivers to keep the changed traffic conditions in mind when travelling through the area.
"There will obviously be some disruption to local traffic in the area while works are being undertaken, but we will minimise this as much as possible without compromising the safety of our staff working in the area," Mrs Robinson said.
