BARELLAN beer enthusiast Stuart Whytcross's campaign to put the town back on the map with an easy-to-drink golden brew will be realised next week.

Buoyed by a desire to make use of Barellan's barley crop, Mr Whytcross and the Barellan community have been involved in a vigorous campaign to develop, brew, bottle and launch a boutique beer.
The selected golden grain ale beer will be brewed in two 1000-litre batches on Tuesday at Yenda's Australian Beer Company.
Twelve community members who purchased a $600 support package will be involved at some point during the five-hour process.
They will be recognised on the beers labels, which were designed by Riverina-based graphic designers, printed in Griffith and selected by the community.
"The brewing will see the malted grain mashed and the hops will be added for flavour, aroma and bitterness," Mr Whytcross said.
After the brewing process, the beer will ferment for two weeks before it is dispensed into kegs and bottles.
On October 3, the people of Barellan will celebrate this mean feat, with the launch of the beer coinciding with one of the town's biggest festivals Good Old Days Weekend.
"The next two days are working Clydesdales day it will be available on tap there," Mr Whytcross said.
From the start the people of Barellan pledged their support donating $33,480 to the ambitious project.
Mr Whytcross wanted the whole community to be involved and get behind the project.
"It's always been the plan, to get the community to be invested and have ownership," Mr Whytcross said.
"The whole project is Barellan's own."
A long-term beer enthusiast, Mr Whytcross was inspired to develop Barellan's latest brew after visiting German towns whose beer was their drawcard.
"Because of Masterchef people in Sydney and Melbourne go to a restaurant and are told they are having, say, Junee lamb, it's important now for people to get food from a good location," Mr Whytcross said.
"People choose wine based on location and region. (We want to) put Barellan on the map (for being) a malt barley region."
Barellan's latest claim to fame will see the beer on tap in its pub and club.
"We want to give people a reason to stop in Barellan," he said.
