LEETON'S netballers got tips and training from one of Australia's best when Susan Pratley hosted one of her clinics in town last week.
Co-ordinated by the Leeton Netball Association, Pratley clinic attracted 50 youngsters keen to improve their skills in the game.
Prately is a goal attack or goal shooter who played 54 games with Australia and played for the Sydney/NSW Swifts from 2006 to 2013, including a year as vice captain (2012).
She was part of the Diamonds team that won silver medals at the 2006 and 2012 Commonwealth Games and was a member of the 2007 world championship-winning team.
Pratley also took the time during her visit to speak with Leeton-Whitton Crows players as they took part in the Riverina league finals series.
The Leeton Netball Association has been conducting its representative team try-outs over the last three weeks, with the final session tonight.
There has been good numbers trying out for the 11s, 12,s and 13s teams with some quality players also aiming for 14s.
This year the association has independent selectors choosing its teams, with training to commence in February for the 11s to 15s teams.
The 17s team will start earlier in preparation for the State League Cup in March. This zoned open-age competition will be played over two consecutive Sundays at the end of March, with one of the weekends possibly being held in Leeton.
The 15s and 17s teams will also play in the women's Thursday night town competition with rep teams also taking part in the state age and state championships later next year.
