NSW Blues cricketer Gurinder Sandhu and the legendary Trevor Chappell will be in Leeton next week encouraging youngsters to sign up for the 2014-15 cricket season.
They will be in town on Wednesday to remind young players that it is time to don their whites, grab their bat and register with one of the Leeton District Cricket Association clubs for the upcoming season.
Sandhu played for Australia in the 2012 under 19s Cricket World Cup as well as for Sydney Thunder in the Big Bash League. He is the first male cricketer of Indian origin to represent Australia in an international tournament.
The youngest of the three Chappell cricketing brothers, Trevor Chappell played three Tests and 20 one-day internationals for Australia, but is best known for following Australian captain and brother Greg's direction to infamously bowl an underarm delivery to New Zealand's Brian McKechnie to stop him hitting a six and winning an ODI in 1981.
The visit to the MIA will start with the T20 BLAST School Cup in Griffith, followed by an assembly visit at Narrandera PS.
They will have an assembly visit to Leeton Public School at 2pm and then Parkview PS at 2.45pm.
There will be a meet and greet at McDonald's Leeton from 4pm to 4.45pm, followed by attending regional representative training at Mark Taylor Oval from 5pm.
The visit is in support of junior cricket club registration as part of their participation in the Country Blitz.
A Cricket NSW initiative, the Country Blitz helps promote cricket in regional areas at the grassroots level, encouraging boys and girls of all ages to sign up and play for their local club this summer.
