I HAVE read Paul Sheldrick's letter re the auction of items no longer required by the golf club that have been carried out by outside auctioneers when we have our own Leeton born auctioneers available.

I thought it was time to give your readers the thoughts of a Leeton born "old fart" who has had the good luck to be a resident and supporter of some of the good things our community and its supporters have done.
-How many country towns have two quality nursing homes?
-How many country towns have, although the building may be a bit old - the most beautiful and caring staff (they are angels) at the hospital?
-How many country towns have the education facilities that our town has?
-How many country towns have the feedlot and abattoirs built in there town?
-How many country towns have pulled together to build an indoor stadium?
-How many country towns have formed an organisation such as JumpStart that have been able to assist our residents in need?
-How many country towns have a swimming pool, tennis courts, indoor stadium, football ovals, soccer grounds, cricket grounds, Aussie Rules oval, trotting track and racecourse?
-How many country towns have come together to raise money or support to the residents that are in desperate need?
We all make mistakes, we all have sometimes too much to say without action.
I am very much afraid that if we don't support our local businesses, our community and the people need, that our finest country community spirit may be lost.
Please support our local businesses, our people and their families.
To our council, there is no doubt you are doing a great job with improving our town and its surrounds.
Our golf course has never looked better, but I don't think a coffee shop at the Visitor Information Centre was a good idea.
We do have enough in our business area and visitors having a coffee may purchase an item from the surrounding shops.
Please look after our town as you are supporting our local businesses making a living.
