NSW Fire and Rescue Leeton and the Rural Fire Service were called to the Ciavarella Road home just before 12.30pm on Monday afternoon.
One crew from NSW Fire and Rescue Leeton attended, while the RFS provided 20 volunteers and two trucks from Whitton, two from Yanco, two from Fivebough/Stony Point and one from Gogeldrie.
On arrival the home was reported to be well alight.
Neighbours had alerted emergency services to the fire, with the owner not home at the time.
"They reported seeing flames coming from the side of the house and out of the windows," NSW Fire and Rescue Leeton Captain Graham Parks said.
"It was totally engulfed when we got there.
"There was no water on site, so we had our guys going with breathing apparatus to extinguish the blaze and the RFS was getting the water and pumping it to us.
"It's always a concern when you're going into homes like that because of asbestos in the roof, so the breathing apparatus was necessary."
Captain Parks said it didn't take too long to extinguish the blaze, but it was too late to save the house.
"They've lost everything inside the home," he said.
"We were able to save the shed and workshop.
"A cause hasn't been identified as yet.
"At this early stage it looks as though it could have been an electrical fault in an appliance inside the house."
