Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Kim Traynor said about 8am on Tuesday a highway patrol car attempted to stop a white Citroen on the Burley Griffin Way after the vehicle was seen travelling at excessive speed.
The car turned onto a back road, but was stopped by police on Kolkilbertoo Road, about 10 kilometres north of Barellan.
"The three occupants got out of the car and ran into a nearby paddock," Inspector Traynor said.
A 31-year-old woman was caught at the scene, but two men managed to escape from officers.
Police were searching the surrounding area, when just before 10am, a resident of a nearby property reported his silver Ford Falcon stolen.
Inspector Traynor said police and the owner followed the stolen vehicle, but lost sight of the Ford Falcon south of Tallimba.
One of the occupants is believed to be wanted by police, but his identity is yet to be confirmed.
