The shield is named in honour of respected Leeton basketball identity the late Dom Fondacaro and features boys and girls teams from St Francis College, Leeton High School and Yanco Agricultural High School.
Fondacaro not only helped establish the indoor stadium, he was a player, coach and senior referee for many years stretching back to the Parkview courts days.
St Francis was successful in its first round games, defeating YAHS in both the men's and women's games quite convincingly.
However, the second round was a harder task against the basketball might of Leeton High.
In the women's, the college led by 10 points at the half-time break, but Leeton High came out firing and brought the margin back to two points with a minute left in the final term.
St Francis remained composed and came out the winner by three points to win the shield for 2012.
In the men's game Leeton High was far too good for St Francis and won by 26 points to claim the trophy.
