POLICE, NSW Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service raced to a grass fire on Barker Road on Sunday afternoon.
The blaze started on the banks of a canal at the property, burning at least five hectares of paddock area and a large stretch along the sides of the channel.
Emergency services were called to the scene at 3pm on Sunday, with the blaze extinguished about 90 minutes later.
NSW Fire and Rescue Leeton Captain Graham Parks said residents needed to be careful when conducting burns in the warm weather.
"This one got into a rubbish pile, an old car and tractor," Captain Parks said.
"With the warm weather and little amount of rain people need to be aware of the dry conditions when burning off."
The Bushfire Danger Period officially starts tomorrow, with the MIA RFS zone to determine when areas such as Leeton will be prohibited from actions that could start a bushfire.
