THE Barellan community is counting down the days to the launch of its new concept that is bound to put it on the map.

Barellan Beer will be unveiled to its supporters on Friday night at a special event and will be available to the wider community the next day as part of the Barellan Good Old Days Weekend.

From there it will be available at two licensed venues in the town before reaching wider audiences in three- to six-months time.

Project spearhead Stuart Whytcross said it was all systems go for the launch.

"It's been flat out getting everything ready," Mr Whytcross said.

"Everything is on track with the labelling and the bottling.

"We're also organising a wagon to be pulled by a clydesdale with old beer barrels for the Saturday."

A supporters and sponsors evening was held last month to taste test and decide on what ale would make up Barellan Beer.

A 3.9 per cent blonde/golden ale was chosen, with a 2000-litre batch now being brewed.

Mr Whytcross said interest in Barellan Beer continued to grow.

"We've had people from all over calling up and asking when it's going to be ready and where they can get it from," he said.

"We'll be putting big billboards up in Barellan this week so people driving through know about it.

"It's really hectic at the moment, but it's exciting to have everything come together.

"I'm really looking forward to the launch.

"Hopefully it's another thing that will get Barellan out there and on the map."

The supporters launch evening will be held at the Barellan Bowling Club at 6.30pm on Friday.
