DRIVERS from across the region headed to Griffith on September 20 for the first round of the Riverina Cup Hot Summer Nights series.
More than 50 competitors took to the track in 11 classes.
Leeton's Jason Severino, in the junior national light class, was awarded the Driver of the Day Trophy.
Griffith Kart Club vice-president Wal Snaidero said the club was happy with the turnout.
"There was great racing had by all classes," he said.
"Some real oldies ended up on the podium, which was great to see."
Round two of the series will be staged under lights on October 11.
