I AM devastated to learn of Fairfax's proposed restructure, which would see your staffing slashed.

Leeton residents may not be aware, but there is a proposal to restructure community newspapers including The Irrigator, The Area News and The Daily Advertiser.
This would result in a loss of staff positions, which would no doubt impact on the paper's ability to continue to report on events and issues affecting Leeton and surrounding villages.
I was fortunate to be given my first-ever journalist position at this award-winning paper under the guidance and support of both John Gray and Felicity Nolen. Both of these individuals go above and beyond to ensure the community has a newspaper that serves the town well and the awards they continue to win proves they deliver that.
I urge Fairfax to reconsider the current proposal and recognise the importance of this paper to its community.
I encourage you, Irrigator readers, to express your support for the staff and the paper by signing this petition: https://www.change.org/p/john-angilley-local-journalism-matters-don-t-discount-the-dailyadvertiser-fairgofairfax?recruiter=165218194&utm_campaign=mailto_link&utm_medium=email&utm_source=share_petition.
While this petition specifically focuses on The Daily Advertiser's plight, it is part of the same planned restructure.
I support you team Irrigator and I'm sure your other readers do too.
