YANCO Cougars are sitting atop the A grade ladder with a handy quotient after a seven-wicket win over cross-town rivals Yanco Hotel.
Playing at Narrandera Park, Hotel elected to bat first and set a total for the Cougars to chase.
David Tiffin (6) was solid early, but lost Matt Boots and Nathan Lanham, both without scoring, early in the piece.
Mark Doyle (16) knuckled down before losing Tiffin, but when he combined with Michael Day (30) the pair put on 58 runs.
Wayward bowling by the Cougars helped carry the Stags' total along with an extra 23 runs provided in wides alone.
However, Day and Doyle fell within two runs of each other and a whirlwind Dom Mercuri innnings (16 off 18) was the only score of note from the lower order as Hotel was dismissed for 99 after 26 overs.
With the ball, Rhys Wilesmith took 3-17, Chris Cox 2-8, Adrian Axtill 2-16 and Jack Cox 1-5.
As in round one, Axtill produced a solid, considered knock in the top of the order, holding his own and carrying his bat to finish 44 not out.
He lost Corey Graham (3) with the score on six and then two balls later Chris Cox was removed without scoring.
Mackenzie Saddler (7) held up his end as Axtill kept working before Matthew Aliendi (2-26) grabbed his second by knocking over Saddler's castle.
Steve Campbell (38no) and Axtill combined to see their side home, adding 65 runs for the fourth wicket.
Simon Frazer was the other bowler to take a wicket for Hotel, finishing with 1-14.
