A NEW production starring Home and Away actor and former Leeton resident Jake Speer will take the spotlight at the Roxy Theatre in November.

Mr Speer has written the script for the Broadway cabaret show Just Startin' Out and he has recruited another former resident, Nick Beecher, to star alongside him.
The pair attended school together at Parkview Public School and will join up once more to be part of the performance that will only be shown once.
"The idea for the plot or story came to me one night ... it was basically written that night," Mr Speer said.
"It came to me very quickly.
"I've been in musicals before and I really wanted to get back to that because it can be a lot of fun.
"While I was writing the script I straight away thought of Nick as someone to take part in it with me.
"I've always followed what Nick has been doing and thought he would be perfect for it."
Mr Speer describes the plot as being a "classic story" that follows two friends who are chasing their dream of making it big.
Both become famous, but as they do their friendship falls away and it's not until they are once more down and out that they realise the importance of their connection to each other.
The pair held their first rehearsals for the production on the weekend.
Mr Beecher is studying in Canberra and was looking forward to the experience.
"It came out of the blue," he said.
"I was really quite surprised, but excited at the same time.
"It's a very interesting story ... there will be lots of singing and dancing.
"On a personal note I know I will be adding new skills to my repertoire thanks to Jake.
"I'm really looking forward to the challenge."
Mr Speer said he enjoyed bringing shows to the Roxy Theatre and was looking forward to taking to the stage.
"The last time I performed in Leeton was for Light Up Leeton last year, but other than that I haven't been on stage at the Roxy since the Government Inspector in 2012," he said.
"It's a fantastic theatre ... I've always had a love for Broadway and musicals, so I'm very excited about this."
The show will be held on November 29, with tickets $25 for adults and $20 concession.
Twenty-five per cent of profits will be donated back to the theatre.
