THE second day of the first two-day games of the Leeton District Cricket Association season have been set up to provide maximum points for the winning team.
In what is a fairly unique situation, all three A grade games are set up for potential outright results.
At Mark Taylor Oval, Yanco Cougars already have a 50-run lead over L&D CC and with six wickets in hand will aim for quick scoring to set up a big enough lead to not have to bat again.
At Narrandera Park, Yanco Hotel is 95 runs behind Narrandera, but only has five wickets in hand. Despite being in trouble early on day one, the Carpheads, missing several of its front-line A graders, recovered with the bat and are now on top with the ball.
Meanwhile, the Phantoms took advantage of the Colts at Yanco Sportsground and at the conclusion of the first innings have themselves a 102-run buffer.
With stumps drawn at the fall of the final Phantoms wicket last Saturday, Colts will go into day two starting afresh.
Phantoms captain Simon Wallace is confident his side can continue its dominance on day two, but won't count his chickens just yet.
"If we can get a couple of early wickets we are a good chance of getting a good result," Wallace said. "I'm always happy to lead by a hundred than trail by a hundred.
"(But) you can't take anything for granted. They have a couple of talented players and it only takes one or two good innings and everything changes."
Both teams will have changes going into day two.
On day one Colts played with 10 men and will welcome back left-arm quick Josh Carn, while Steven Weckert will be missing for Phantoms, who nominated on day one to sub in a player to maintain full numbers.
Weckert was the danger man on day one, taking six wickets and scoring 71 runs. However, Wallace was confident his missing the second week would not affect the game.
"Hopefully we have built a position where it will have less of an impact than it otherwise might have," he said.
