The two-day workshop will be hosted by Newcastle organisation True Colourz, where the facilitators are experienced artists who have qualifications in art therapy, youth work and mentoring.

Participants in the event will be given tools for designing, aerosol preparation and basic tips for their creations.

The idea is not for them to use the new-found skills as graffiti in public-places, but rather to harness what they learn to create works of art.

Those taking part will be given the opportunity to contribute to a mural wall at the new community arts space in Wade Avenue where the workshops will take place.

Leeton Shire Council community services officer Jackson Goman hoped the event would reach out to various community members.

"It's for those aged 12 and above that may have an interest in this kind of thing," he said.

"The facilitators have a great reputation ... they will be showcasing the different styles this kind of art has to offer and present it in a dynamic and unique way. 

"We've been thinking of doing something like this for a some time, so we're pleased to be able to bring it together.

"The workshops will start at a beginner level and progress to a more advanced one, all within two days.

"It's a great opportunity to have these facilitators coming to Leeton for our youth to work with."

Those interested in taking part should contact Mr Goman at council by December 1.

The workshops will be held on December 6 and 7 from 10am to 3pm each day.
