UnitingCare is again partnering with Target Australia to spread festive cheer with its Giving Box Appeal.
The appeal encourages Leeton shire community members to buy gifts and make donations to help children who may otherwise not have any presents to open on Christmas morning.
UnitingCare Leeton co-ordinator Margaret Lang said the continued support of the community was needed for the appeal.
"There are many families in our community that are going to find it really tough to provide gifts for their children this year," Mrs Lang said.
"We rely on fellow residents to dig deep, so please support our appeal.
"We make sure all donated gifts go to Leeton shire families."
This Christmas about 600,000 Australian children will be living in poverty, with UnitingCare expecting to have an increased demand for its services during the festive season.
Last year more than 26,000 families benefited from the appeal and this year organisers are hoping to assist even more struggling families.
A large giving box will be displayed at the front of Target Country in Leeton, with shoppers encouraged to place unwrapped gifts inside or take a bauble gift tag to make a donation at the register.
UnitingCare staff and volunteers collect the gifts to ensure they are distributed in time for Christmas morning.
Leeton shire residents can donate now at the store until Christmas Eve.
