THE 2014-15 season has been a struggle for the successful LSC Colts, but the team is showing enough on the field to believe a turnaround is possible.
This week they face the challenge of a resurgent L&D CC, but are coming off a game in which they squandered the perfect chance to down reigning premier Narrandera.
Seemingly cruising in the chase after a tight effort in the field, a massive collapse in the Colts' middle and lower order resulted in a 47-run loss
Colts president and opening bowler Josh Carn said last week was a contradictory performance.
"Losing 6-0 hurt us," Carn said.
"The top order is going okay, but the middle order and near the bottom needs to fire.
"Bowling, it was our best performance and our fielding was the best for the year."
Carn felt the club needed consistency and was yet to put its best side on the park.
"We've just got to be able to field a full-strength side," he said.
"We've got Chris Killen and 'Houghto' (Jacob Houghton) to come back into it."
The second two-day game of the year starts tomorrow with Colts facing L&D. In their first two-day outing, Colts suffered an outright loss and Carn is wary of what L&D has shown over the past few weeks.
"Ben Elwin is the main name coming forward," he said.
"He's taken 20 wickets in the last three weeks and makes 20 to 30 runs each week. Kieren (O'Callaghan) made runs against us last time.
"We need to hold our catches and play sensibly.
"I think the two-day format might help us with our batting. The kids can get in and take their time.
"Our concentration levels will need to be up if we are stuck in the field for 70 overs."
