LEETON had little luck in its two junior representative matches last weekend.
The Cubs faced Wagga in the Warren Smith Cup (under 16s) and received a belting to the tune of 194 runs, while in Geoff Lawson Cup (under 14s) against Griffith, they went down by 75 runs.
Warren Smith was played at Yanco with Wagga winning the toss and batting first.
The highlight of the visitors' innings was H Perryman's 110, but he was well supported by J Harper (43) and that pairing put on 81 runs for the fourth wicket.
M Cawley's 62no and a 89-run six-wicket stand with Perryman sealed Leeton's fate as Wagga scored at close to five runs an over and closed its innings at 7-293.
Leeton's bowlers were all taken to, with Hugh Collins (2-47), Danyan Evans (2-78), Jayden Mohr (1-33) and Cooepr Sharman (1-34) the wicket takers.
The chase was always going to be difficult and it took time for significant partnerships to form.
Tyh Evans (14) started well at the top of the order, before Collins (26) and Mackenzie Saddler (21) added 33 for the fourth wicket. However, regular dismissals ensured Leeton could not keep up with the rate and only Danyan Evans (16) managed double figures in the lower order.
Leeton lost its last three wickets without adding to the total and was dismissed for 99 in the 33rd over.
Geoff Lawson Cup is also a 50-over competition and although Griffith failed to bat out its innings, still made an imposing 186.
That was primarily due to opener Dean Bennett (54no), Lucas Fabris (43) and Isaac Campbell (14), although Leeton's 24 wides also aided the cause.
Leeton's leading bowlers were Bryce Collins (2-10) and Angus Boulton (2-15). Reece Keech, Mathew Axtill, Mohammed Ahmed and Josh Lanham all took one wicket each, as did Declan Shelton who also performed a run out.
Boulton was also a shining light with the bat, posting a half century before being dismissed for 57.
Only one other batsman made double figures, Rhett McGregor (10), as Leeton was dismissed for 111 in the 42nd over.
