DEAR Mr Piccoli, I would like to express my extreme discontent and outrage at the recent changes to fee structures for TAFE NSW.

I am currently half way through completing a certificate IV course through Riverina TAFE only to discover that the course costs I was quoted at the start of my course are no longer applicable and that the fees for the remainder of the course are about to triple.
I can afford $570 which is the fee I was quoted when enrolling. I cannot pay what TAFE is now asking, $1719, because I cannot afford it.
As a result, I will not be able to complete this course.
It is utterly unfair of the government to change the course price half way through.
At no time during my enrolment was I made aware that the price would change.
I find it both upsetting and ironic that our state and federal governments are currently attempting to lower unemployment whilst at the same time making it nearly impossible for individuals to gain the qualifications needed to gain a job.
As a mother attempting to re-enter the workforce, I am endeavouring to set a good example for my children by not relying on welfare payments or handouts from the government.
Unfortunately this may no longer be possible.
So thank you so much for putting me through the unnecessary stress of starting a course, paying for childcare so that I could complete the work experience for the course and being sleep deprived by doing my course work in the middle of the night, as this is the only time I can, only to have my studies stop here.
Perhaps it is time the government stopped worrying about being re-elected and started worrying about the welfare of those who they claim to represent.
