Police said it was fine to celebrate the Christmas period, but to do so in a manner that was appropriate.
A 29-year-old Leeton man was viciously assaulted at a licensed premises about 1am on Saturday and needed 17 stitches when he was treated at Leeton District Hospital.
There were other serious assaults at Carrathool and Hillston during the weekend.
Griffith Local Area Command Inspector Tony Reneker expressed dismay at the behaviour and said alcohol was the common factor in each of the incidents.
"We really want people that are out celebrating to be mindful of themselves and their friends when it comes to their alcohol consumption" he said.
"There can be a tendency for people to consume more alcohol then they usually do (at this time of year) and this can create problems.
"We are still (nine) days from Christmas and already we have seen people's futures put in real jeopardy because of senseless, alcohol-related violence.
Extra police will be rostered for duty over the festive period and will be targeting alcohol-related incidents in and around licensed premises across the command.
