Current convenor Lorna Swaffield has had to step down from the role due to health reasons and the group will go into recess from January if a new leader is not found.
The group provides valuable support services to people with diabetes in the Leeton community and the role would suit a person with diabetes, who understands the condition and is compassionate and organised.
Mrs Swaffield had been convenor of the group for six years and created an environment of fellowship and education. She has arranged a variety of guest speakers that have given members the opportunity to learn different ways in managing their diabetes among other things.
The group is not only for people with diabetes, but may also benefit family and friends who simply want to know more about the condition.
The Leeton Support Group meets on the second Thursday of the month, except December and January, at the Leeton Library.
Mrs Swaffield would be available for a handover and is happy to assist where she can. Further support is also available from Diabetes NSW staff in Wagga and Sydney during the transition.
For more information about the group or the role, contact Mrs Swaffield on 6953 6449.
