THE Leeton Motor Sports Club has the first of its two annual race meetings tomorrow night at Brobenah Raceway with a packed program.
Leeton members and visiting competitors will take to the track for action in the production sedans, Legend cars, sports sedans, Goulburn Ovens sedans and standard saloons.
Legend cars will be mostly be coming from Canberra.
This class has proven popular in Sydney and the ACT, and is in the process of spreading its wings to Leeton, Wahgunyah and Wangaratta.
Based on miniature versions of classic American body styles from the 40s, the Legends will come to Leeton with local member Mitch Watts keen to impress against the best in the class.
Among the entries are Michael Cook, looking to entertain his Leeton-based sponsors, while Michael Hebditch is the favourite to take out the race.
The exciting Roger Neal will be part of the show and Greg Davis is also on the entry list, while the only female driver will be Ashley Hodak.
Like Cook, Hodak has Leeton sponsorship keen to come see her mix it with the boys.
The production sedans' NSW title have been washed out twice at Brobenah Raceway and the Leeton club was keen on holding it at this meeting.
Instead, the club is holding a Christmas Cup and it might just be enough to attract Santa to come and visit the kids.
The event has attracted Neil Keldoulis from Queensland, Leeton drivers Wayne Bourke, Justin and Nathan Hawkins, and Paul Whyte, two-time national champion Victorian Stephen Laidlaw and the "showman" of the bunch Rodney Anderson from Albury.
The sports sedan stampede has a strong field from as far away as Melbourne's eastern suburbs, Shepparton and Wagga.
Rhys Collins is the favourite based on form, but Alex Cheney, Danny McCarten, James Powell and Simon Hill are just some of the drivers that could upset the tipsters.
Goulburn Ovens sedans are competing in an association point-score round, the first of the season.
Victorian champion Wayne Williams leads the way in the nominations, but Watts will also compete in this division, making it a busy night for him.
However, Brendan Tracy, Ross Maclean, Leeton's Mick Pettit or Paul Barklem from Wagga in his Gemini could come out the winner.
The standard saloons field is still in the process of being sorted, but Warrick Howie, Stuart Densem, Michael Fleming-Robertson and Brendon Eames seem likely to be out front in battle.
The Brobenah Raceway gates open at 2pm tomorrow with racing from 6pm.
