Leeton resident Deb Spowart has become a global sensation after posting her recipe "Deb's Baileys and Chocolate Trifle" on her Facebook page just before Christmas.
Since then the post has been shared thousands of times on her own profile, as well as on various cooking and recipe pages on the social media site.
Last week it was picked up by 2Day FM and distributed once more to an even wider audience.
The post has been shared about 40,000 times, but that is only the numbers Mrs Spowart can see and could be even more.
"I made it for a barbecue just before Christmas and posted a photo of it on Facebook," Mrs Spowart said.
"After that all of my friends were asking me to put the recipe up as well.
"I think I posted it on December 19 and since then it has just gone absolutely crazy.
"It's been shared all over Australia and the world ... it's really overwhelming."
Mrs Spowart has always had a love for cooking and creating desserts, a passion that runs in the family.
"My mum and gran have always loved it, so I guess that's where I got it from," she said.
"I like doing something easy and something that's a bit fun.
"When I first noticed everyone was sharing it I did get a bit nervous that people wouldn't like the taste, but they did.
"People were posting their own photos of how theirs turned out, which was pretty cool to see.
"I think it appeals to people because it's easy to make and full of chocolate ... who doesn't love chocolate?"
The modern take on the trifle includes various chocolates and custards, Baileys instead of sherry and cream.
Mrs Spowart's friends and family have now been encouraging her to create a recipe book.
Her ultimate dream as a result of the recipe going viral would be to appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
"It's just so crazy how far it's gone, so you never know what will happen," Mrs Spowart said.
"It's been posted on various cooking and recipe pages on Facebook and then Fifi and Jules (2Day FM page) posted it too.
"When I saw that, I realised how big it had gotten.
"I'm not a chef, just a normal person that created something in the kitchen to share with friends and family.
"It's been really exciting."
