Murrami rice farmer Debbie Buller has been involved in the Murray-Darling Basin Authority's (MDBA) Basin Plan process from the outset.

She said while growers were getting on with the job of growing their crops, there were still issues that needed addressing.

"At this time of year everyone is flat-chat busy, but it's (the Basin Plan) always at the back of their minds," Mrs Buller said.

"The most concerning aspect is they (the MDBA) have written all of the water trade and infrastructure rules, but they are also the regulatory body for it too.

"They are basically marking their own homework, so people are worried about that."

Irrigators have had a tough year with low allocations, but entitlement has just been increased by 6 per cent to 46 per cent.

The Basin Plan continues to be implemented and has improved and adjustments made since the initial guide was first introduced.

Mrs Buller said the community was still aware of the plan and often asked about its effects on the shire's irrigators.

"At the end of the day this is an irrigation area ... farmers are good at what they do and they are getting better at it," she said.

"Hopefully we'll get some nice rain up in the catchments and that will ease a bit more of the pressure.

"At the end of the day we are here to help feed the nation and we need the support of all of the regulatory bodies to do that.

"Otherwise all of these regulations are just obstructing farmers from what they do."
